Introduction To NTPC Global Management Challenge
NTPC is conducting a dedicated business simulation competition based on Global Management Challenge – the world’s largest strategy and management competition.
This will be the 4th edition of competition at NTPC, having previously participated by more than 3000 employees from the company.
The objective of the program is to enhance cross-functional learning and managerial ability among employees. The simulation exercise will have a special emphasis on strategy formation, scenario analysis, cross-functional coordination and forming consensus to make commercial and strategic decisions on Finance, Marketing, HR, Production / Operations etc.
Best 8 Teams from the NTPC Global Management Challenge will be nominated for participation in the flagship event of GMC India – National Finals 2025, scheduled in April’ 2026.

Enhance cross-functional learning for better decision making in business operations
The simulator allows participants to manage a company with global operations and take control of all it’s business activity in capacity of the senior management in a simulated environment.
Participants in GMC are honored with a Diploma in Management as per EFMD - EOCCS Certification
The platform is accredited by the EFMD - European Foundation for Management Development with EOCCS Certification. The Training Certificate awarded in Global Management Challenge is accordingly equivalent to a “Diploma in Management”.

Global Management Challenge is accredited with EOCCS Certification by European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)
As of 2025, only 138 courses from 32 institutions in 16 countries are accredited with EOCCS Certification by European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The Training Certificate awarded in Global Management Challenge is accordingly equivalent to a “Diploma in Management”.
Form a Team of 4 Members
To take part in the NTPC Global Management Challenge 2025, staff members across all regions in NTPC are invited for participation. Each Team must consist of 4 members as per the rules specified below:
- All Team members must be from same location.
- Each Team must nominate, 1 member among themselves as Team Captain. By default, the organizers will consider Team Member 1 as Team Captain.
- A participant can only be associated with 1 Team. Registrations with common participants shall not be accepted.
- Once the Registration is complete, the members within the team cannot be changed.
NTPC Global Management Challenge consists of 5 Rounds followed by National Finals.
All Registered Teams will compete against each other in a multi-round format, with the best teams progressing to the next rounds. The complete format of the competition will be as follows:
384 registered Teams take part in Round 1. Teams are divided in 48 Groups with max 8 Teams each. Top 5 Teams / Group (or max. 240 Teams) xare nominated for
Round 2.
240 Qualified Teams from Round 1 will take part in Round 2. Teams are divided in 30 Groups with 8 Teams each. Top 4 Teams / Group +8 teams ranked 5th (or max. 128 Teams) are nominated for Round 3.
128 Teams nominated from Round 2 will take part in the Round 3. Teams are divided in 16 Groups with 8 Teams each. Top 2 Teams / Group (or max. 32 Teams) are nominated for Semi Finals.
32 Teams nominated from Round 3 will take part in the Semi Finals. Teams are divided in 4 Groups with 8
Teams each. Top 2 Teams / Group (or max. 8 Teams) are nominated for Company Finals.
Teams nominated from Semi Finals will take part in Company Finals. Teams are divided in 1 Group with all the 8 Teams. Top 8 Teams are nominated for GMC India National Finals.
Top 8 Teams from NTPC Championship to compete at GMC India – National Finals. The winner of National Finals will go on to represent Team India at GMC World Finals
The International Final, where the winning teams of each country compete for the World Title, is a milestone and prestigious event, which provides a unique experience of contact between different cultures and the reality of competing at an international level.
Macao to host GMC International Finals for 2024 edition from 24-26 September 2025
The competition is completely Online and to be organized from October’– December’ 2025

NTPC Global Management Challenge 2024 edition
NTPC conducted the dedicated Global Management Challenge – the world’s largest strategy and management competition (India – 2024 edition) with an objective to enhance cross-functional learning and managerial ability among employees. This was the third time that this dedicated challenge was being conducted for NTPC Executives.
The Competition was conducted between Nov 2024 to Feb 2025. The Competition was completely ONLINE and designed in such a manner that the participation in the Competition did not impact the day-to-day commitments of the participants.
The Team Alliance comprising of members from Vallur/Barauni emerged as Company Level Winner while the Team Magnates from CC-EOC Secundrabad secured the second place in this year’s competition.
