Global Management Challenge is an innovative way to develop the knowledge and skills of our employees It is also an opportunity to discover management potential among young talents.
This has been applied to a large number of Bachelor’s and Master’s students in four UPM Schools (Higher Technical School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering, Higher Technical School of Building, Higher Technical School of Computer Engineers and Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers ). Now it is sought to implement the collectivization of all these UPM teachers involved, national and international, which in turn is part of the final grade of students in this subject (gamification). The participation and use of the experience has been very satisfactory with thousands of participating students, victories and good positions in regional and national competitions, as well as a very dignified participation, representing ETSIAE, ETSIIndustriales, ETSIInformáticos and ETSE of the UPM. This year precisely our Rector delivered the champion, second and third trophies in the grand national Final of the competition, all positions occupied this time by ETSIAE business management teams. Participation in the international competition held this year in Russia has also been relevant, where the ETSIAE team representing UPM was in a good position worldwide.
This has led the professors involved to reflect on our interdisciplinary methodology used in learning business management, financial management or business economics, helping our students, future engineers and technicians, to be more competitive and employable. in this current changing professional world, of digital transformation and of high demand in the preparation of transversal skills, which has confirmed that we are on the right track.
However, in addition to becoming aware of what we have achieved so far, without any help, more than the enthusiasm and interest in making the teaching-learning process better and more stimulating through gamified methodologies, it is time to analyze what implemented, systematize it, provide it with adaptation and improvements, as well as pursue scientific research and the transfer of achievements in this regard, publicizing it and disseminating the results obtained and analyzed from a perspective of continuous improvement and excellence. With this project, which is perfectly adapted to the call for PIEs to which it is presented, we intend to consolidate the experience followed, achieve greater scientific knowledge about the operation of “serious games” and the use of immersive methodology and simulated experience.
